Amare Stoudemire Does Not Like Bruce Bowen

Watch and be amazed. Or appalled. Or whatever. Just watch the damn clip:

When I saw this play while watching the Game 2 replay on TV, I became corncerned that Amare pulled something on his way up for what was supposed to be another monster dunk. He eventually played on until game's end, so big sigh of relief right there for me.

But after seeing this clip, though (thanks for the heads up, Joepoy)...

That's. Just. Not. Right.

Amare, who had already taken a Manu Ginobili knee in the nuts earlier in the season, had this to say about the incident:

"He kicked me purposely in the back of my Achilles'. I almost came down wrong and he almost caused an injury. He's known for doing that. I just hope the NBA and the commissioner take a look at that because it's definitely a dirty play."

"When I saw the replay and reviewed it three or four times, there was no doubt about it. It was a purpose kick to the Achilles' and he definitely tried to injure me."

"I was actually very, very, very upset. Me personally from last year, having to sit out the whole season because of injuries. And for a guy like Bruce Bowen, who is a two-time champion, he should have more class than that, should understand what it takes to be a professional."

In response, Bruce Bowen expectedly pleaded innocent:

"I saw the replay and it's obvious I did clip him, but to kick him, that wasn't the intention at all. It was an unfortunate situation and I'm sorry that he feels that way. ... I have a lot of respect for him, so I wouldn't do that."

As of this morning, I've heard that the NBA has merely dismissed STAT's claims. Oh, well. Let's hope Amare keeps his head in Game 3 tomorrow, instead of playing all distracted and hotheaded because of this.

Just 11 wins to go!
GO, SUNS!
